Southridge Behavioral Hospital, the joint venture partnership between Universal Health Services and Trinity Health Michigan, held a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Wednesday, May 21st. The new Southridge Behavioral Hospital, located at 6291 Venture Hills Boulevard SW, near the Trinity Health Medical Center in Byron Center, Michigan, will open for patient care in the near future. EV Construction is proud to have been the construction partner on this project.
“Southridge Behavioral Hospital will help address the growing need for high quality mental and behavioral healthcare services for people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use and other issues, and who need hospitalization and intensive individualized care,” said Matt Biersack, MD, President of Trinity Health Grand Rapids. “Southridge represents a sustainable, long-term solution and it will be a key piece of our behavioral healthcare continuum in West Michigan.”
“Demand for high quality behavioral healthcare continues to increase across the U.S. We are proud to work closely with Trinity Health to bring forth a solution to this issue,” said Matt Peterson, President, Behavioral Health Division, UHS. “This best-in-class inpatient facility will be a safe space where healing can begin. This project is a great example of the power of WE – collectively, our relationship with Trinity Health presents a unique opportunity for medical-behavioral integration. The power of WE … together we can provide so much more as we provide care together. Southridge Behavioral Hospital is and will be a place of guiding hope.”
On track to open and serve patients in the near future, Southridge Behavioral Hospital is licensed for 96 beds, serving adult and geriatric patients. When fully operational, the hospital will employ approximately 170 full-time and part-time staff including physicians, nurses, therapists, mental health technicians, administration, and dietary and housekeeping personnel. Programming is tailored to individual patient needs, with core psychiatric services and counseling supplemented with art therapy, music therapy and outdoor activities.
“From blueprint to reality, this project has been a journey of vision, craftsmanship and collaboration. As the construction team, we were proud to bring it to life — and even more proud to hand it over. This hospital will be a sanctuary for healing, offering essential support and hope to individuals and families in our community,” stated Mike Novakoski, President and CEO of EV Construction.
